Course Details

The ‘Managing the Disciplinary Process’ course is intended to be run in conjunction with the ‘Identifying Poor Performance and Misconduct’ course. Having identified what poor performance and misconduct are, the ‘Managing the Disciplinary Process’ course provides managers and supervisors with a consistent and fair process to follow when disciplining employees.

  • Knowledge of the importance of fair and consistent process
  • A practical understanding of each step in the disciplinary process, and the requirements of each of those steps
  • A thorough understanding of how to conduct a formal investigation and employee interview
  • An awareness of the issues that must be considered prior to making a decision about disciplining an employee

The 'Managing the Disciplinary Process' course covers:

  • Ethical and legal reasons to manage the discipline process correctly
  • Preliminary steps that should be taken
  • How to conduct a formal investigation
  • How to conduct an employee interview, and
  • Making a decision
  • Common mistakes made by managers and supervisors
