Course Details

The hazard management course has been developed in conjunction with WorkCover Corporation to provide managers and supervisors with the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to effectively manage hazards in the workplace.

Throughout the course, interactive workplace simulations and animations develop and reinforce the participants understanding of the hazard management process.

Learning Outcomes

  • Describe the hazard management process
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of hazard management systems
  • Use a risk assessment tool to prioritise risks
  • Describe and employ the hierarchy of controls for managing workplace hazards and risks
  • Identify the legal obligations for each workplace role (employee, supervisor & employer) under Health and Safety legislation

Course Content

The course covers the following topics:

  • The legislative framework for Occupational Health and Safety hazard management process
  • Hazard identification and management
  • Risk assessment
  • Risk control and review tools, policies and procedures to support the hazard management process
  • Developing an Occupational Health and Safety strategy
  • Roles and responsibilities of every group within the workplace

Target audience
The course has been designed to provide training for all staff in supervisory roles.
